Chair – Dr. Dorothea Shannon
Dr.
Dorothea Shannon is a retired school superintendent and currently serves as
an education consultant to the Virginia Department of Education and to the
Southern Virginia Higher Education Center. She is also administrator
for the Center for Rural Education and Economic Development (CREED), a
consortium of 22 school divisions across Southern Virginia.

Paul
Nichols is former Executive Director of Administration for Halifax County
Public Schools and was chosen by the VASS Board of Directors to lead the
statewide AP initiative due to his strong background in education and his
experience in starting up and leading such innovative endeavors in
Virginia.

Jennifer
Stevens was the Research and Development Specialist for the Southern
Virginia Higher Education Center and was part of the proposal team that secured
the NMSI grant for Virginia. She is a former educator and has
extensive experience in administering grant projects and managing budgets
relative to educational programming.
