Supporting Partners
To achieve its mission, VASS has developed strategic partnerships with businesses, universities, foundations, and other organizations. These partnerships help support an administrative organization that allows VASS to meet National Math and Science Initiative’s (NMSI) progressive goals and secure the long-term success of AP programs in public schools both financially and academically.

On the left, Halifax Educational Foundation Chairman Wayne Conner accepts a specially designed flag from VASS President Paul Nichols.
NMSI funds are not sufficient to cover the cost of five-year partnerships with over 100 schools; rather, as explained in NMSI’s original Request for Proposals (RFP), it is expected that VASS develop other strategic partnerships that will provide matching funding during the initial five-year grant period and additional funding for future sustainability. Applications were judged by NMSI with a number of expectations – one being the ability to secure funding commitments of at least $2.5 million.
